A Little Friendly Summer Competition: The Box Top Challenge

IMG_2409

The Rebates + E-Z Money Committee has organized a summer Box Top competition. Sandwich-sized Ziploc bags were distributed to families the last week of May with a note about collecting Box Tops for Education all summer.

Families will collect the Box Tops in the given bags all summer long. The bags are due by Friday, September 11, 2015. The family that collects the most Box Tops will receive a $25 gift card to the store or restaurant of their choice.

Shamona Creek earns 10 cents for each specially marked General Mills box top submitted. Simply clip and save the box top square on the package. See the Box Tops for Education product list to help get you started.

Let’s get ready to … BOX TOP!

HSA 1The challenge has been issued! It is a good old fashioned Box Tops for Education throw down.

WHICH homeroom class will win the Box Top Challenge? Will it be your son’s? Will it be your daughter’s?

Only time will tell, but we do know this … you need to clip it to win it!

How does our Box Top challenge work?
Cut Box Tops for Education labels off eligible products. Check the expiration date, and then send in your Box Tops to your child’s homeroom teacher between February 9 until the end of the school day on Friday, February 20. The winning class will be announced on Wednesday, February 25.

>>> Here’s a handy dandy tally sheet to make the reams of Box Tops easier to count. { PRINT: Box Top Collection Sheet }

What’s the big prize?
Each student in the class with the most Box Tops collected per student will win 15 Spring Fair game tickets. Also, the winning teacher will receive a $15 Target gift card.

Why, oh why, do we collect Box Tops?
Collecting Box Tops is a fun and easy way to raise money for our school. For every Box Top we submit, Shamona Creek earns $.10. So far this year, we have earned $1,284! Our goal for the school year is $2,000 and we can only achieve that with a little help from our parents.

So, sharpen your scissors and be on the look out for that Box Top logo on a variety of food packaging that you probably already have in your pantry. Start your Box Top collection now and send them in with your sons and daughters between February 9 and 20. May the best Box Toppers win!

Are you a Black-Friday shopper…or an any-day shopper?

With the height of the holiday shopping season at its peak, the SCHSA wants to know:

Target Logo1.  Do you shop at Target?  Do you have a Target Red Card?  If so, please take a minute and register your Target Red Card in their Take Charge of Education program…and 1% of your purchases will come right on back to Shamona Creek!  Click here to register your Target Red Card on behalf of Shamona Creek!

Amazon Smile Logo2.  Will you be beating the crowds or shopping from the comfort of your own home this year with the help of Amazon?  With the Amazon Smile program, .5% of your purchases will be donated back to Shamona Creek.  Click here and then choose “Shamona Creek Home & School Association” as your charitable organization of choice.  Then when you shop on Amazon, use the URL:  smile.amazon.com.  It’s that easy!

GNTL3.  Are you a GIANT shopper?  Whether its all the time or just running in for the essentials, by registering your GIANT shopper card in their A+ School Rewards program online (choose Shamona Creek as your designee), every purchase you make at GIANT will result in EZ money for our Shamona Creek community.

I invite you to take 5 minutes right now to do all 3 of these things.  Let’s see how great an increase we can see in our participation in these programs before the new year.  Ready?  Go!

(Oh…and invite your friends/family to do the same…those loud annoying toys your older brother buys for your kids on Amazon may as well be good for something…besides giving you a headache.)

Happy Shopping!

Helping is E-Z: Soup’s on! Labels off!

Campbells LogoThe colder weather makes us crave comfort food. Soup always hits the mark. Campbell’s soup helps Shamona Creek hit the spot when parents clip and send in UPC codes from participating products. Please send in your labels from Campbell’s, Pepperidge Farm, Prego, V8, and more. The collection container is on the shelf outside the school office. Check out the complete Campbell’s Labels list.

Don’t Forget: Box Tops Deadline and Candy for the Troops

We’ve turned back the clocks, flipped to a new page in the calendar and started a fresh school week. It’s the perfect time for a few early November reminders.
HSA 1Box Tops for Education Deadline
Today is the day our E-Z Money committee will be packaging the Box Tops for Education that have been snipped and collected in the school lobby. They will be sent to the headquarters so that the school can receive $.10/label in return. If you haven’t dropped off your Box Tops yet, please try to get them to the school today. If you forgot, don’t fret … this is an ongoing collection and additional clipping shipments will be made on future dates. Want to help? See the Box Tops for Education product list to get started.

Candy for the Troops

If you suddenly have more candy in your house than your children can reasonably eat, put it to good use. Shamona Creek will be collecting Halloween candy through Wednesday, November 5 for Operation Gratitude. The donated candy will be shipped to the men and women who are serving our country.
OperationGratitudePicAccording to its website, “Operation Gratitude sends 150,000+ care packages filled with snacks, entertainment, hygiene and hand-made items, plus personal letters of appreciation, to New Recruits, Veterans, First Responders, Wounded Warriors, Care Givers and to individually named U.S. Service Members deployed overseas. Our mission is to lift the spirits and meet the evolving needs of our Active Duty and Veteran communities, and provide volunteer opportunities for all Americans to express their appreciation to members of our Military. Each package contains donated product valued at $75-100 and costs the organization $15 to assemble and ship. Since its inception in 2003, Operation Gratitude volunteers have shipped more than One Million Care Packages.”
Last year, Shamona students collected 300 lbs. of candy. Let’s top that! The box will be located in the school lobby. When you come in for conferences, bring the candy with you!

Helping is E-Z: Shop at Target. Save the World.

Target Take Charge

Okay, well shopping at your favorite big box store to save the ‘whole world’ might be a bit of an exaggeration, but using your Target Red Card can make a true impact for our little corner of the universe.

Target LogoParticipate in Target’s Take Charge of Education Program and 1% of purchases made with your Target Red Card will be donated to our school. Simply designate Shamona Creek as your recipient school online to start earning.

And, if you are anything like me, you always checkout of Target with WAY more than you intended to buy. So, now you can feel good about over-shopping, knowing that the more you spend, the more it benefits the school.
